The 2022 Cross Country & Fun Run was a great success for all our students at St Patrick's Catholic Primary, Blacktown!
It was a wonderful sight to see all of our students participating in the carnival. The weather was perfect for the day.
All grades were all given the opportunity to run in either the competitive Cross Country event or the Fun Run.
Several of our students will now represent our school in the Diocesan Cross Country at Eastern Creek Tuesday 3rd May, Week 2, Term 2. Congratulations to all of the students on their efforts.
A big thank you to our Year 6 leaders who did a wonderful job in helping to run the day.

🚨❄️ Year 5 STEM Challenge: The Melting Ice Rescue! ❄️🚨 This week, Year 5 became scientists on a mission! Their challenge? To rescue a Tiny Teddy trapped inside a block of ice. 🧊🍪 With only 25 minutes on the clock, students tested different methods to discover which would melt the ice the fastest. Along the way, they explored the states of matter — solids, liquids, and gases — and identified where each one appeared in their experiment. From sprinkling salt, pouring warm water, or using shiny foil to harness heat, Year 5 worked like real problem-solvers. The result? Lots of excitement, melted ice, and of course… rescued Tiny Teddies! 🎉👏

🍅🌱 St Patrick’s Tomato Competition Update! 🌱🍅 Our tomato plants are thriving – lots of green, healthy growth, but no tomatoes just yet. The suspense is real! 🤔 Which grade will be the first to spot a tomato on their plant? The competition is heating up, and classrooms have taken things to the next level with some fantastic displays to cheer on their tomato seedlings. 🌿✨ We can’t wait to see how much they’ve grown (and hopefully ripened!) when students return from the holidays. On Wednesday night, our students took part in the ZING Activ Interschool Dance Competition and did an outstanding job! We proudly brought home ribbons and a trophy. 🎉 A big congratulations to our talented students from Years 3–6 who represented our school so well. On September 25th, the St Patrick’s community gathered to celebrate the incredible talents of our students at the Little Big Shots Showcase 2025. Hosted with energy and excitement by our wonderful compares—Olivia, Achol, and Jessica—the showcase brought laughter, applause, and plenty of “wow” moments from start to finish. The afternoon began with an introduction of our three fantastic judges: Mrs Leilua, Mrs Preston, and Mrs McDonald. With their encouragement and expertise, the stage was set for a memorable event. From Kindergarten to Year 6, each act shone brightly, sharing the unique gifts of our students. The performances included raps, piano solos, Bollywood dancing, magic tricks, gymnastics, drum solos, singing, hula-hooping, and even a powerful Haka. Every act reflected dedication, confidence, and creativity—proving that our students are indeed Little Big Shots. A highlight of the afternoon was the Brain Break Twist and Shake Dance, which had the whole school up on their feet, moving and grooving together. And of course, Miss Linda’s lively saxophone performance added an extra burst of joy. As the showcase came to a close, special Encouragement Awards were presented—one for Infants and one for Primary—recognising perseverance, effort, and promising talent. All participants proudly received certificates as a reminder of their achievement. The day would not have been possible without the hard work of the Showcase Committee, the support of teachers, the enthusiasm of parents, and of course, the courage of every student who stepped onto the stage. The final cheers of “Hip, Hip, Hooray!” summed up the spirit of the day perfectly—celebrating not just individual talent, but the joy of coming together as a community. St Patrick’s Little Big Shots Showcase 2025 was truly a spectacular event that reminded us all that every child has something special to share.

Yesterday year 5 students accompanied Mrs Leilua to the Socktober Launch for 2025. Our students collaborated with other schools to make soccer balls with minimal resources. We also listened to guest speakers from Catholic Mission who revealed the work that they have been doing to support the communities in Zambia. Our Year 5 students brought back wonderful ideas that we can implement next term. Stay tuned!!

Year 3 led a truly beautiful liturgy this week, focusing on the theme of Mercy. The highlight was a thoughtful re-enactment of the parable of the Good Samaritan, where students showed how mercy was lived out in the story. While others passed by the injured man, it was the Samaritan who stopped, bandaged his wounds, lifted him onto his donkey, and ensured he was cared for at an inn. Through this re-enactment, the students helped us see that showing mercy means acting with kindness,compassion, and love—especially to those most in need. We would like to sincerely thank our Year 3 parents for taking the time to attend the liturgy and share in this special moment of faith and learning with the students. Your presence made the celebration even more meaningful.

🏀 Parramatta Diocese Basketball Gala day ⛹️♀️⛹️♂️ Well done to all students who made it out to Penrith and represented St Patrick’s at the Stage 2&3 Parramatta Diocese Basketball Gala day. We are extremely proud of their resilience and sportsmanship displayed throughout the day. Also, a big thank you to all parents and carers who joined us out on the courts and cheered us on from the sidelines. Our school community garden is thriving with wonderful fresh produce, carefully grown and nurtured by our students. Through the Kitchen Garden Program, all students are actively supporting a sustainable future while learning valuable lessons about caring for the environment. Our Year 5 students proudly contributed by pulling weeds, composting, and showcasing the delicious produce they harvested from the garden.
